Things to do in Oviedo
Looking for some family fun in Oviedo, Florida? The City of Oviedo Recreation Center offers a fun Aquatics Center just right for all ages. Besides a fun afternoon in the pool, you can also sign your children up for swim lessons or join in on a water aerobics class. There is also a conveniently located Gymnasium next to the Aquatic Facility.
Rec Rock, also part of the city’s fabulous Parks and Recreation Department is a cool, 40 foot tall, man-made rock climbing haven that’s also family friendly. Everyone can learn the skill of rock climbing in a completely safe environment. You must be at least six years old to climb.
If you’re in the mood to shred, check out Rippin’ Riverside Skate Park. It has 30,000 square feet of street course and bowls. A great workout and area hang out for any skateboarder.
The University of Central Florida, although located in the city of Orlando, is less than ten minutes from parts of Oviedo. Check the local schedule for entertainment opportunities at the college. There’s always something going on here, from sporting events to plays and fundraisers, the school is a bustle of activity.
If you are up for a short drive, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, east coast Florida beaches and the St. Johns River are nearby. Of course, the famous Walt Disney World theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot), Universal Studios and Sea World are all within a short driving distance as well.

The Oviedo Marketplace is a popular shopping and dining area, conveniently located just off 417, the Central Florida Greenway. With over fifty shops to choose from, you can literally spend an entire afternoon there, and even take in a movie at the Regal Oviedo Marketplace 22 Theater.
Stores located in the Oviedo Marketplace include Dillard’s, Macy’s and Sears. Restaurants include RJ Gator’s, Bill’s Elbow South and a large indoor food court.
